The Montrose Restoration Committee is a 501c3 non-profit corporation operating in Susquehanna County in the State of Pennsylvania. The MRC was formed in August 2000 by a group of individuals committed to the revitalization of our rural community through economic development, heritage preservation, and cultural enhancement.
The MRC Board membership consists of 17 individuals from throughout the region and beyond who have diverse expertise including the professions of law, insurance, business, banking, marketing, art, and government. Several are principals of their own businesses:; some are retired senior corporate executives.
The work of the Montrose Restoration Committee is supported primarily through the contributions of individual donors and several granting institutions. Similar organizations in more affluent areas have access to additional funding in the form of corporate sponsorships, but the employer base and economy of Susquehanna County simply cannot support this avenue of financial backing, nor is it likely to do so in the near future. We cherish our donors and strive to make each dollar count toward preserving the Montrose environment for current and future generations.
Vital to the success of any small nonprofit organization is the volunteer base that supports it. The MRC gratefully acknowledges the hundreds of dedicated volunteers who have contributed their time, expertise, good humor, and hard work to help with all of our restoration and fundraising projects. Anyone interested in volunteer work should call the MRC office at 570.278.6854 or email email@example.com
In addition to individual community support, the MRC has fostered strong partnerships with many other organizations. Local organizations with similar preservation interests include The Garden Club of Montrose, Susquehanna County Library and Historical Society, and the Center for Anti-Slavery Studies. Our emphasis on economic development and technology initiatives has brought us into regular working relationships with other agencies such as: The Housing and Redevelopment Authority, Penn State University Technical Assistance Program, Penn State Extension Service, Susquehanna County Economic Development Department, the Susquehanna Community Information Network, The United Way of Susquehanna County, and Endless Mountains Visitors Bureau.
